The early morning hours of Tuesday December 14th were so cold, it was -25 Celsius.

I picked up my Friend in Charity Fred, he stayed at the back of the Hummer

Serving as my chaiwala (pouring Tea for the homeless).

The first person we served was Peter, he was standing in front of his cardboard box and shopping cart. Then the man who was sleeping under the cardboard box beside him began to

 SCREAM, SCREAM, SCREAM

He screamed, then screamed and then he was screaming so loud that I asked

‘Are you ok ?

 Are you ok ?

  Are you ok ?’

 but he

SCREAM, SCREAM, SCREAM

I thought I had done something wrong,

Then I realized I had heard that kind of scream a few times during the last 6 years I have been serving the Homeless at night.

Every time he screamed it was like someone put a knife in my heart

We continued on our Serving Charity Night serving our Homeless Brothers and Sisters in -25 on the sidewalk and trying to lift their Spirits and bring LOVE and Mercy

The Next night when I went out to serve the homeless

I saw the man who was screaming the night before.

I gave him lots of LOVE, his name is Sean, and I asked him ‘why were you were screaming so loud last night?’ he said

‘My feet were freezing and I could not keep them warm’.

I gave him the new winter socks I purchased from China Town a few days before,

Sean received the 1st pair.

Then we both were so happy.

I think there are only a few people in Canada that have heard that heartbreaking Scream before.

But there is a deeper Sound and Meaning behind this,

SCREAM, SCREAM, SCREAM

There is the Need to save their lives.

A few years ago a homeless man froze to death behind our lane- way.

I cannot imagine the sound of the

SCREAM, SCREAM, SCREAM

that no one heard before the man died,

Or the feeling of my homeless brothers that I serve every night who have lost their hands and legs to frost bite.

Every year we lose a few of our John Doe’s to the freezing COLD.
